When purchasing goods and services, NAMSA observes three main principles: • Consolidation – Requirements from various customers are consolidated in order to invite bids for larger quantities and obtain lower prices. • Competition – International competitive bidding by firms located in NAMSO countries is the norm. (Only in special cases can a sole source be used or competition extended beyond NAMSO countries.) • Distribution of production (industrial balancing) – According to specific rules approved by the NAMSO Board of Directors, NAMSA attempts to balance the value of the contracts placed in the nations with purchases made by these nations through NAMSA. Details can be found in the NAMSA Procurement Regulations. In addition, NAMSA contracts and purchase orders are subject to a number of other provisions:
For NATO standards publications (Standardization Agreements (STANAG), Allied Quality Assurance Publications (AQAP), etc.), see General Quality Assurance Provisions. For further information please contact the Procurement Division. |
