The NAMSA Competition Advocate is responsible for promoting competition and for attempting to balance the orders placed by NAMSA in the various NAMSO member countries against the orders placed by these countries with NAMSA.

In this connection, the NAMSA Competition Advocate is the focal point for liaison with industry and in particular as regards:

• facilitating relations between suppliers and NAMSA and fostering the exchange of information, and assisting solving problems concerning participation in procurements made by NAMSA (e.g. in the context of the registration in the NAMSA Source File, inclusion in Source Lists for RFPs, awards of contracts and execution of contracts);

• providing an informal avenue for appeals and settlement of disputes, avoiding confrontation with a view to resolving the problems without litigation;

• receiving criticisms and suggestions concerning the correct application of regulations and procedures applied by NAMSA in dealings with industry for consideration and analysis with a view to ensuring maximum transparency of operations whenever possible.
